During the past summer and this current semester, I have been working very diligently on my Re-Branding.
I knew it was time for a new Re-Brand when my logo (created when I was a sophomore was getting outdated. Isn’t it crazy how your design style changes in 2 years? I previously had a “stamp” style logo and incorporated watercolor designs in my logo & branding. I loved the watercolor and my icon at first but after at least a year and a half went by, I felt like my logo was outdated already.
The thing that inspired me to change my logo was the letterpress class I had taken in the Spring semester of 2017. I was inspired by the textures and borders that I had found when working on projects in class. After being incredibly inspired by letterpress artists, Globe, and other letterpress companies I decided to create a Pinterest inspiration board, which you can view here!
I was inspired by some of the work I did for a Mary Mashburn poster. I decided to use some of the letters & borders from the collection to see if it was a possible brand idea for me. The borders represented me more because it shows my love for patterns. In the images above are some of the typography and cuts that I was considering on using for my branding. I also explore the level of inking in my process as well. The textures and subtle differences in the letters were really starting to grow on me!
After lots and lots of process with the logo, I decided on a final logo! Coming from a print background and being inspired by the art of letterpress, I decided the I wanted the typography and icons to be letterpressed. As far as the icon, it represents how I am a designer in print and on the web as they represent HTML brackets.
Thanks for reading about my re-branding!
